Diabetes and Weight Loss

Type II diabetes is an energy disorder in which your body is having difficulty properly metabolizing blood sugar. While it’s not clear as to the exact cause of type II diabetes, there is a definite correlation between lifestyle and the acquisition of this disorder. People leading a sedentary lifestyle, consuming an unhealthy diet, and carrying excess body weight are at much higher risk for the disorder. It is been shown that by addressing lifestyle choices with simple interventions, the disease process can be greatly mitigated. >>Learn More

The Facts About Diabetes

Diabetes is a potentially devastating disease. Unfortunately, because it is becoming more commonplace in our society people are not necessarily taking to heart the potentially devastating effects that diabetes can cause.

In diabetic populations, heart disease-related death is 2 to 4 times higher than nondiabetic populations. Risk for stroke is 2 to 4 times higher than those without diabetes. The leading cause of new onset blindness is diabetes. Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure. 60% of all nontraumatic amputations are caused by diabetes. 60 to 70% of diabetics have mild to severe nervous system damage. A diabetic’s medical costs are 2 to 3 times higher than those without diabetes. Diabetics frequently represent one third of the hospitalized population. Philosophy

We strongly believe that the right way to address a problem is to correct the root cause. Unfortunately, it is well-documented that our current healthcare model is “illness based”. In an illness-based model, patients are treated for their conditions only after an event or disease has already been established. We believe that it is much better to avoid the event occurrence altogether. Research shows that up to 80% of all illness in the United States is lifestyle related. That means that 80% of all healthcare problems are completely preventable and a large portion are correctable. We want to help you take back control of your life and guide your health in a positive direction. >>Learn More

Exercise

When it comes to making improvements in your health, there is nothing that even comes close to the benefits that exercise provides. Exercise reduces your risk factors for many, if not most, disease processes. At the same time, exercise greatly improves your quality of life. Just some of the benefits that you get from exercise include the following: weight loss, increased strength, decreased depression, improved immune system function, improved blood sugar control, enhanced sexual performance, decreased risk for obesity and improved quality of life. And, unlike medications, exercise has absolutely no bad side effects. >>Learn How Exercise Makes Diabetes Correction Possible

How Does the Diabetes Program Work?

The goal of our program is to control or eliminate type II diabetes from your life. We do not believe in fad diets or unrealistic exercise programs. Instead, we focus on a reasonable and minimally invasive approach to changing your lifestyle. Studies show that if we can reduce your body weight by 10%, adjust your diet in a moderate fashion and engage you in a reasonable amount of exercise just three days per week then we can significantly progress you toward a goal of freedom from diabetes.

My Motivation

Throughout my life I have had both personal and professional experiences with the healthcare community. I have been frequently frustrated to see that medications are often seen as the first line of defense against problems that can be treated, and often times cured, by making simple lifestyle changes.

Unfortunately, many people think that these lifestyle changes have to be severe. People believe that they will have to give up all of their favorite foods or engage in arduous amounts of exercise. The fact is, improved health requires just a few basic changes and a relatively small investment of time in order to achieve tremendous results. >>A Word From Owner Mark Olives
